Halogen free flame retardant (HFFR) compounds have been in the market for some years now and have found acceptance throughout the wire and cable industry. However, the products are not as flexible or have the same feel as the PVC and elastomeric compounds that they replace. The market is particularly demanding compounds which do not have an undue influence on the stiffness of the cable making them difficult to install.
Recognising this demand from the market, AEI has developed a new generation of flexible both thermoplastic and crosslinkable HFFR compounds. CT09-12 is our standard thermoplastic grade for use as sheathing on most power cable applications and CT09-03 is available if oil resistance is required in the application.
For HFFR flex used on appliances such as washing machines, televisions and vacuum cleaners CT09-13 is ideal for both insulation and sheathing.
Other grades include CT09-07, which has easy strip characteristics for further ease of installation and CT09-05 for use with photovoltaic solar panels.
To complement our range of flame retardant materials we have SX554, a highly flexible low and medium voltage insulation compound.
Grades available
Please note that all of the silane crosslinkable grades are shown as a system with a graft and a catalyst. These are normally used in the ratio of 95:5. The most common catalyst masterbatch is shown in the table but there are others available which helps us to more accurately match your property requirements and processing conditions.
Thermoplastic grades are normally available in natural, black and with additional UV stabilization.
